8 steps to marketing your organisation

Step 1:  Know your target market, who are you trying to sell your product or service to? Where are you trying to sell it?

Step 2:  Identify your goals and objectives for marketing your product or service.  As well as increasing revenue what do you want to achieve? Why would someone want to buy your product/service?

Step 3: Use the answers determined in 1 & 2 to produce marketing brochures, leaflets or email campaigns which best describe your offering and how it will benefit your target audience.

Step 4:  Develop a social media strategy.  These channels, such as Facebook, Twitter, Linked In as well as Pinterest and Instagram offer cost effective ways of reaching out to your target market quickly and more personally.

Step 5: Develop and maintain an internet presence by developing a website as your shop window for your business.  This can be a low-cost project which simply outlines all the key features of your product/service with some call to actions.  Once you have your website set up it is key to ensure this is maintained and up to date, changing images or text to refresh it.

Step 6:  Build and maintain your customer database (CRM) as this is also a key project to ensure you have all the data needed on your current customers, as well as building a mailing list for future mailings.  For more information on CRMs click here

Step 7:  Show and advertise the results that your organisation achieves. This can be sales achieved, new members, case studies on how your organisation has helped them or news releases but this will build into an effective portfolio to use for future marketing campaigns and can also be included as quotes on your website.

Step 8:  Always look at how you can collaborate with other organisations, this can be through networking at local Commerce events, partnerships with similar organisations or alliances where another organisations product/services would work alongside (but not compete with) yours.

I hope you find these steps useful.
